Bonding is a general term in dentistry used for repairing chipped teeth, filling cavities, and closing spaces. Several tooth colored materials can be bonded to the teeth including: porcelain veneers, composite materials, inlays, onlays, and even gold crowns. The most common type of bonding is applying composite material to the tooth. This material is shaped, smoothed, polished, and then hardened by the application of a blue light to the tooth.
